Meet
Hope, a boy aged 2 of Nigerian origin was forsaken by his family as they
believed that the boy was a witch. For almost a year, he was left out by his
own blood to the streets where he underwent serious health hazards and almost
was pushed to the verge of death. But see what happened to him and he looks
unrecognizable now!
"Hope, the two year old boy who is being given a sip of water by Ms.Loven after finding him from the streets. The second image shows his recovery after two months." |
He
just made a miraculous recovery out of the blue! All he could do was to wander
the streets alone helplessly for around eight months before he was finally
caught in the attention of a Danish social service worker Anja Ringgren Loven.
About
Anja Ringgren Loven
Ms
Lovén, a profound humanitarian is the founder of the charity Foundation,
which aids in rescuing children who are abandoned after allegations of
witchcraft.
She immediately
set out to rescue the boy, who was small for his age, very shy and also
infected with worms.
“When she found
him, she bent down to offer him a biscuit and a sip from her water bottle. The
heartbreaking moment was captured in a photo that would be shared
thousands of times.
Hope was taken to
hospital, where he stayed for four weeks and was given daily blood transfusions
and worm treatment. Soon he was able to sit up by himself and eat food on his
own, even managing a weak smile when he was visited by Ms Lovén and
her young son David Jr.
Hope, happy in the midst of his new brothers and sisters. |
He was released in
early March and taken to the charity's children's home in Uyo, 10 hours to
the south-east of Nigeria's capital Abuja, where his recovery progressed
even more quickly.
Daily meals and
interactions with 34 other children in the orphanage helped Hope come out of
his shell, meaning just eight weeks after he was found he bears little
resemblance to the child found in the street.”
What do you have
to say after reading this? A two year old boy in the clutches of poverty and
helplessness. Often the world forgets the humane approach even to kids. But humans
like Ms. Loven will always continue to further the interest of her foundation
to be humane to kids like these.
